Our mission is to provide a fun recreational youth soccer experience with a focus on player development. The term “player development” is fundamental to our club philosophy. Our objective is not to “win at all costs” but to ensure that all players receive individual, unconditional attention to mentor them to fulfill their potential.
Aptos Tide coaches are dedicated to coaching with a player-centered philosophy in order to accomplish defined team and player goals. Our coaches are dedicated to creating an environment of inclusion, which supports, guides and encourages players to contribute their best effort during practices and games.
At the grassroots level, children learn and develop to their full potential through game-like experiences in an enjoyable environment that supports individual growth. As a result, Aptos Soccer Club has adopted US Soccer Federation’s PLAY-PRACTICE-PLAY approach to coaching.
Players must learn the fundamentals of the game for themselves through game-like experiences. The players need to be able to read and analyze game situations regarding the structure of soccer attacking/defending/transition and our role as coaches is to guide them to this goal.
Remember, as a coach we should be asking guided questions of our players rather than telling them where to be or what to do. Our players need to be empowered to assess the game in real time and make soccer decisions on their own during practices and games.
Aptos Soccer Club would like to thank you for making the commitment to coach and provide a safe, enjoyable environment in which the children of our community can develop their soccer skills and learn to work in a team environment.
